My House Is Haunted What Should I Do?
Short answer: learn to embrace it!

You may be comforted in knowing that most ghosts are perfectly harmless, and are actually more afraid of you than you are of them. Generally, there are two types of hauntings:

Benevolent Hauntings

Most of all hauntings are totally harmless. Most ghosts are just casual visitors or lingerers, passing through, reminiscing about when they were alive. These ghosts do things like open doors and cupboards, laugh, talk, sing, move objects and leave phantom smells. Sure, these acts can startle the living, but the ability to terrify someone does not make something evil.

Most ghosts are just hanging around, wondering, or existing as they did in the physical realm. When you come home and find all of your furniture in disarray, this doesn't necessarily mean your ghost was trying to scare you – he/she may have just been acting in manner in which they did while alive. Most ghosts for whatever reason are stuck between the physical world we live in and the metaphysical world in which the spirit goes when we die.

So, if your house is full of wandering spirits, who just like to turn on and off lights, move objects and set the dinner table, then learn to embrace them! Start talking to your ghosts. Make them feel welcome and a part of your family. Some ghosts have been known to warn the living of danger, and even keep evildoers at bay.

Malevolent Hauntings

When people die, they usually mellow-out quite a bit, however sometimes they continue in the same state in the afterlife as they were prior to taking on mortality. Sometimes, a really mean or evil person remains really mean or evil after they cross into the afterlife. Fortunately, there is a fix for this. Uninvited guests are uninvited guests, whether they are alive or dead. So, go open your front door, and tell them to get out! It really is that simple. It’s your house, and you have every right to decide who stays and who goes.

More often than not, the ghost that is scratching you and trying to push you down the stairs, is just some deceased jerk who insists on hanging on to his/her cranky persona. However, once in a great while (and it is exceptionally rare), a house can be inhabited by a malevolent entity. If this is the case, chances are, you either built your house on a portal or gateway, or someone has consciously or subconsciously invited such an entity into your home. Fear not: this also can be fixed.

Understand: negative spiritual entities feed on your negative emotion; they eat your sadness, anger, and fear. That’s why they work so hard to make you and your family miserable. If you think you might have one of these nasty things in your home, the first thing you need to do is stop feeding it! Stop shouting, crying, and stop being afraid! Turn your fear into strength. That may seem easier said than done, and in some cases the assistance of a professional paranormal investigator may be needed. It sounds simple, and it really is. Nasty spirits hate happy, confident people.

If your house is haunted, take a deep breath, and relax. You’re the master of your home – the king/queen of your castle. You’re the boss, and it’s up to you whether the spirits stay or go. If your ghosts have overstayed their welcome, then send them packing! If not, make room for them, or ask them to watch over your home while you’re on vacation. After all, life (like death) is really just what you make of it! The choice is ultimately yours.
